The Painkiller
Rob Brydon and Kenneth Branagh reprise their roles following their acclaimed production of The Painkiller at Belfast’s Lyric theatre back in 2011. This French farce adapted from Francis Veber’s original by Sean Foley is set in two adjoining hotel rooms one containing a suicidal man and the other a murderer. Dudley (Brydon) a failed photographer set on suicide after being abandoned by his wife draws lone wolf and professional killer Ralph (Branagh) into his personal problems with hilarious results. The two starkly different men begin to swap personalities in this darkly comic farce. Sean Foley has enjoyed previous success with his adaptation of Morcombe and Wise tribute The Play What I Wrote. His credits as a West End director include The Ladykillers, What the Butler Saw and Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.
