Young Frankenstein
Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's hilarious musical comedy Young Frankenstein is currently running at the Garrick Theatre. Last seen on Broadway in 2009, the stage show is based on Brooks' 1974 Oscar-nominated film of the same name starring Hollywood legend Gene Wilder. A parody of the horror film genre, Young Frankenstein is the re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic that sees Victor Frankenstein's grandson inherit his monstrous legacy. When Frederick Frankenstein arrives in Transylvania Heights, he must decide whether to distance himself from Victor's tortured past or continue with his grandfather’s wacky experiments in the castle laboratory. If he chooses the latter, can he do his work without falling in love with his assistant, Inga? Directed by Susan Stroman, who staged the original production, Young Frankenstein is packed full of toe-tapping songs including Irving Berlin’s "Puttin' on the Ritz" and plenty of new numbers. Prepare to laugh until you cry with on of the West End's newest musical comedies.
